Missy's Apple Pie

Another great recipe from Missy. We had both the apple pie and orange rolls for Thanksgiving dinner... yum! Thanks for the recipes Missy!

Apple Pie

1/3 cup Sugar
1/4 cup Flour
1/2 Tsp. cinnamon
1/2 Tsp. nutmeg
8 grated apples ( I just use my grater so all the apple slices are the same thickness instead of cutting slices)
2 Tbsp. butter

Heat oven to 425. Prepare Pastry
Mix sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, in large bowl
Stir in apples
Turn into pastry lined pie plate
Dot with butter
Cover with top pastry that has slits cut in it and then seal sides (just like your little potstickers)
Cover edges with about 3 inch strip of aluminum foil to prevent browning on edges
Remove foil during last 15 minutes of baking
Bake 40 minutes or until crust is brown and the juice from the apples begin to boil through the slits.
Cool or you can serve warm with cream

Pastry for Two-Crust Pie

2/3 cup plus 2 Tbsp. cold butter
2 cups flour
1 Tsp. salt
5 Tbsp. cold water

Cut butter into flour and salt using 2 knives(crisscrossing) until particles are size of peas
Sprinkle with cold water 1 Tbsp. at a time, tossing with fork until all flour is moistened
Gather pastry into a ball
Shape into 2 circles and roll out
